Join us to explore the potential for a poplar-based biofuels industry in the Rathdrum-Spokane Valley. We will discuss growing poplar trees as a bioenergy crop and opportunities for biofuel and bioproduct developments in the Rathdrum-Spokane Valley. After lunch, we will tour the Reuse Farm at the Hayden Area Regional Sewer Board facility, including AHB’s 65-acre “Poplar for Biofuels” Demonstration Site.

- Growing poplar as a wastewater management tool
- Best areas to produce biofuels and bioproducts
- Economic potential of a biofuel industry in the Rathdrum-Spokane Valley
- Research results from AHB, including economic case study findings
- Alternative uses and alternative markets for poplar in the Pacific Northwest
- Biomass production tour highlighting operational and research poplar plots

Advanced Hardwood Biofuels Northwest (AHB) is a program funded by the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA). AHB integrates research, education, and extension to develop poplar-based biofuel and biochemical industries in the Pacific Northwest (PNW).
