In 2011, the USDA awarded $40 million to Advanced Hardwood Biofuels Northwest (AHB) to research the development of an advanced biofuel industry using regionally produced hybrid poplar trees as the primary feedstock. As a consortium of university and industry partners, AHB integrates research, education, and extension to support new biofuel and biochemical industries in the Pacific Northwest.
In this webinar, AHB’s Principal Investigator, Rick Gustafson from the University of Washington, will share research updates from the AHB project and provide an overview on the successes and challenges for developing biofuel and biochemical industries.
Who Should Attend?
Policy makers, bio-industry representatives, academic researchers, community leaders, students, and extension professionals.
Presenter: Rick Gustafson, Denman Professor of Bioresource Science and Engineering, University of Washington
Sponsored by: Washington State University Extension with funding from Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI) Competitive Grant no. 2011-68005-30407 from the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA).
