Advanced Hardwood Biofuels Northwest (AHB) invites you to join AHB researchers for a day out in the field at the Jefferson “Poplar for Biofuels” Demonstration Site. The hybrid poplars near Jefferson, Oregon will be showing much of their full re-growth potential as they continue into their third growing season after being initially harvested in the fall of 2013.
As a purpose-grown crop for bioenergy, the poplars highlight their potential as a sustainable feedstock for biofuel and biochemical production in the Willamette Valley. Topics include:
- Growing hybrid poplar as a short-rotation woody energy crop
- Sustainable production and environmental impacts on soil, water, and wildlife
- Best areas to develop biofuel and biochemical industries
- Biomass production tour highlighting operational and research poplar plots
