Los árboles de álamo tienen mucho potencial como materia prima para biocombustibles renovables en el Noroeste. Cuando crecen para biomasa, álamo pueden suministrar la materia prima a las biorefinerías regionales que producen los combustibles líquidos para el transporte que son totalmente compatible con los motores y las infraestructuras existentes.
