SUMMARY:Wednesday Webinar: Partnering Trees and Microbes for Tackling Environmental Pollutants
DESCRIPTION:Webinar Overview\nDate\n Wednesday October 18\, 2017 | 10:00 am-11:00 am PDT \nRegistration Link\n Click here to register for the Partnering Trees and Microbes for Tackling Environmental Pollutants webinar \nDescription\n Phytoremediation\, the use of plants to clean up sites contaminated with pollutants\, can be a cost-effective way to remove a wide range of toxic pollutants including solvents\, pesticides\, petroleum\, and more. Sometimes the pollutant is too toxic\, however\, and this slows or stops the process. This problem can be overcome using effective plant-microbe partnerships. In this webinar\, we will discuss the recent successful field trial of poplar tree phytoremediation with a natural TCE-degrading microbial endophyte. \nPresenter\n Dr. Sharon Doty\, College of the Environment\, University of Washington \nMore Information\nHow to access the webinar\n Please register for the webinar \nOn the day of the webinar go to https://demo.bigbluebutton.org/b/rooms/ca-0c16d8f7/Partnering%20Trees%20and%20Microbes%20for%20Tackling%20Environmental%20Pollutants \nThis webinar is part of the AHB Hardwood Biofuels Webinar Series. Find the series including archived presentations online at http://hardwoodbiofuels.org/webinars/. \nWant to be notified about future webinars?\n Join our mailing list at http://hardwoodbiofuels.org/about/connect-with-ahb/ \nSponsored by\n Washington State University Extension with funding from Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI) Competitive Grant no. 2011-68005-30407 from the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA). \nQuestions?\n Contact Noelle Hart noelle.hart@wsu.edu \nReasonable accommodations will be made for persons with disabilities and special needs who contact Noelle Hart at noelle.hart@wsu.edu at least two weeks prior to the event. Extension programs and employment are available to all without discrimination. Evidence of noncompliance may be reported through your local Extension office.
