SUMMARY:Wednesday Webinar: Cream of the Coppice – Hybrid Poplar Yields During the Establishment and Coppice Cycles
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday April 19\, 2017 | 10:00–11:00 am PDT \nTo attend register at: https://goo.gl/forms/fccA31kFG6gGMvok2 \nAdvanced Hardwood Biofuels Northwest is developing a system to grow short-rotation poplars for bioenergy. The poplar varieties AHB is working with can be managed using a coppice system\, which means the trees will re-grow from the cut stalks left in the field after harvesting\, ensuring that the poplar farms will only need to be replanted every 18-20 years. \nIn this webinar\, Jesus Espinoza and Brian Stanton from GreenWood Resources\, will present data on the first-coppice growth and yield from the AHB demonstration sites. Learn all about the differences GreenWood Resources has seen in the poplar varieties\, the demonstration sites\, and the establishment and re-growth periods since the first harvest! \n  \nWho Should Attend?\nResearchers\, wood industry representatives\, biofuel producers\, environmental professionals\, Extension personnel\, community organizers\, students\, and bioenergy industry representatives. \nPresenters: Jesus Espinoza and Brian Stanton from GreenWood Resources \nSponsored by: Washington State University Extension with funding from Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI) Competitive Grant no. 2011-68005-30407 from the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA). \n  \nHow to access the webinar:\nPlease register for the webinar at https://goo.gl/forms/fccA31kFG6gGMvok2 \nOn the day of the event\, you can access the webinar at http://breeze.wsu.edu/growinggreen/ \nThis webinar is part of the AHB Hardwood Biofuels Webinar Series. Find the series including archived presentations online at http://hardwoodbiofuels.org/webinars/. \nWant to be notified about future webinars?\nJoin our mailing list at http://hardwoodbiofuels.org/about/connect-with-ahb/ \nQuestions?
