Collaborations with eXtension allow information to be shared nationally.
Workshops are being held to inform Extension educators around the Northwest.
Strengthening Communication and Capacity
Adequate regional Extension capacity is needed to support a sustainable hardwood biofuels industry. To assess the current capacity, we are working with the Extension programs in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and California to identify their experience, perceptions, and needs regarding bioenergy and hardwood biofuels.
At the AHB demonstration sites in each of the four states, we host field days for Extension professionals to provide them with up-to-date information on best practices for growing hardwood energy crops. In addition, we are preparing trainings, workshops, technical manuals, and other outreach materials to equip them with the information and knowledge they need to make informed recommendations to their constituents.
To share information nationally, we are working with eXtension to provide resources on growing poplar for biofuels.
